The Times magazine in the UK has just selected Hue city as one of the 11 most beautiful destinations in Vietnam in 2026, alongside many famous landmarks such as Hanoi, Sa Pa, Cao Bang, Con Dao, Phong Nha – Ke Bang and Son Tra.
In its article “11 of the most beautiful places in Vietnam (and how to see them),” published on August 30, 2026, The Times introduces 11 representative destinations showcasing the diversity of landscapes, culture, and travel experiences in Vietnam, from historically rich cities and mountainous regions to tropical forests and islands.
Notably, Hue was chosen at the top of the list, highly praised by author Joshua Zukas for its distinctive beauty as an ancient capital and its rich urban landscape. According to The Times, Hue impresses with its tree-lined boulevards, riverside parks, lotus ponds, and a system of palaces and historical relics nestled amidst green spaces.
Author Joshua Zukas argues that Hue has its own unique charm when compared to more famous and crowded destinations like Hoi An . The atmosphere of the Citadel, the Royal Palace, and the scenery along the Perfume River create a peaceful and tranquil beauty for the city.
The Times‘ list also includes Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Son Tra Peninsula, Sa Pa, My Son Sanctuary, the coastal strip from Quy Nhon to Phan Rang, Hoang Su Phi, Cat Tien National Park, Con Dao Island, and Ban Gioc Waterfall – Mount Eye of God in Cao Bang.
The selected destinations showcase the diverse landscapes and travel experiences in Vietnam. Sa Pa and Hoang Su Phi stand out with their mountains and terraced rice fields; Phong Nha – Ke Bang is known for its cave system; and Con Dao and the Quy Nhon – Phan Rang coastal area offer experiences connected with the sea, islands, and nature.
Hue’s top ranking further contributes to promoting the city’s image on international media channels. With its rich cultural heritage, distinctive landscapes, and increasingly diverse tourism products, Hue is aiming to develop tourism in conjunction with the preservation and promotion of its heritage values.
Hue’s inclusion in The Times’ list also creates more opportunities to showcase the image of the ancient capital to international tourists, especially those interested in destinations rich in history, culture, and scenery.
