Hue nominated for “Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2026”

According to the Department of Tourism, Hue City has officially been nominated for the title of Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination 2026 at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Oceania.

In this category, Hue joins a distinguished list of renowned cultural destinations, including Beijing (China), San Fernando, Pampanga (Philippines), Delhi (India), Kyoto (Japan), and Seoul (South Korea). The nomination marks an important milestone and presents a valuable opportunity for the former imperial capital to further strengthen its position on the global cultural tourism map.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in the global travel and tourism industry, often referred to as the “Oscars of Tourism.” Being shortlisted is a significant recognition that helps destinations gain exposure among millions of travelers and tourism investors worldwide.

This is not the first time Hue has received recognition from the WTA. The city was previously nominated for Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination in 2023 and was again shortlisted in the same category in 2024.

In addition to Hue’s nomination, several hospitality properties in the region have also been recognized in the 2026 awards. Azerai La Residence Hue has been nominated for Vietnam’s Leading Boutique Hotel, Meliá Vinpearl Hue for Vietnam’s Leading City Hotel, Angsana Lang Co for Vietnam’s Leading Family Resort, and Banyan Tree Lang Co for Vietnam’s Leading Luxury Resort.

Online voting is now open and will continue until August 7, 2026. Residents, visitors, and tourism stakeholders are encouraged to cast their votes through the World Travel Awards website. Every vote not only supports Hue but also helps promote Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage and unique identity to international audiences.
