On the afternoon of July 3, flight VN337 operated by Vietnam Airlines officially landed at Da Nang International Airport, marking the resumption of the direct air route connecting Osaka (Japan) and Da Nang after a period of suspension.
This event is considered a significant step in efforts to restore the international air network, attract tourists, and strengthen trade between the two countries.
A welcome ceremony was held at the international arrivals hall with the attendance of the Consul General of Japan in Da Nang, leaders of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives from the Central Airport Authority, Immigration Police, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Airlines.

Upon landing, more than 180 passengers were warmly greeted with vibrant cultural performances that showcased the unique traditions of both Vietnam and Japan.
The first three passengers to step off the aircraft received fresh flowers, souvenirs, and round-trip flight vouchers between Vietnam and Japan, courtesy of Vietnam Airlines.
All remaining passengers were gifted Danang FantastiCity souvenir bags and promotional vouchers for local tourism services, reflecting the hospitality and friendliness of Da Nang, the coastal city.
According to a representative of Vietnam Airlines, Japan continues to be a key international market for the airline, with an average annual growth rate of 20%.
The resumption of the Osaka – Da Nang route, operating four times per week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, along with the existing Narita – Da Nang route (seven flights per week), brings the total number of direct flights between Da Nang and Japan to 11 per week.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An – Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism – stated that restoring direct flights from Japan not only expands tourism connectivity but also fosters cultural and commercial exchange between Da Nang, Central Vietnam, and major Japanese cities.
“In recent times, the city has actively promoted its destination through roadshows in Tokyo and Osaka, participated in the Tourism Expo Japan, and welcomed numerous travel agents, media representatives, and KOLs for firsthand experiences,” Ms. An shared.
Thanks to the coordination between promotional activities and the restoration of air routes, the number of Japanese tourists visiting Da Nang has shown positive signs of recovery.
In the first six months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed over 108,000 Japanese visitors, accounting for more than 4.1% of total international arrivals, a slight increase compared to the same period last year.
The resumption of the Osaka – Da Nang route is expected to further contribute to the recovery momentum of the tourism sector and reaffirm Da Nang’s position as one of the region’s most attractive and welcoming destinations.
