Seedlings Mentorship Program 2016
Seedlings-Mentorship 2016 a year look back
After the official 2015 launch of the Seedlings Mentorship scholarship program by Banyan Tree Group in Laguna Lăng Cô with 2 young students from Phu Loc and Kim Long, Thua Thien Hue, this year Laguna Lăng Cô is presenting the scholarship to 2 new students aged 12 from Nước Ngọt 2 and Binh An Primary school. The children are all good students at risk of leaving the educational system due to difficult family situations. Laguna Lăng Cô will support all school fees and school supplies, together with Laguna Lăng Cô associates acting as mentors who will guide and inspire the young students in their formative years until age 18. The 2 students from the 2015 program were also present at the ceremony to share their stories and experience over the past year. The program will have long-term development values and will continue to take in new students in the coming years.
“After all the feedback and experience we got from the 2015 program, Laguna Lăng Cô truly sees youth and talent development as a highly important responsibility that comes with a lot of challenges. Coming from Banyan Tree Group’s core value being sustainable development, this long-term program hopes to bring a brighter future to underprivileged young talents and their families, helping them become successful adults in society,” said Phan My Chi – Laguna Lăng Cô’s Director of Operation and the head of the Seedlings Mentorship program.
With the ambition to create a foundation for young local talents, in 2007 Banyan Tree Group established the Seedlings Mentorship Program for children at risk of leaving the educational system. Every year, each Banyan Tree Group hotel sponsors 2 local underprivileged youths, and each youth will be supported by a mentor from the hotel’s staff. The program is special in that it is a long term commitment, supporting individuals for a 6-year period, during their formative years (12 – 18). From 2007, Seedlings Mentorship has supported more than 80 children in over 6 countries such as Thailand, Mexico, and Indonesia.
As a socially responsible business, Banyan Tree, the developer of Laguna Lăng Cô integrated resort, was founded with the core value of driving sustainable development. Banyan Tree Global Foundation was established in 2009 with the call to arms of embracing the environment and empowering the people. Seedlings Mentorship along with upcoming programs not only sustains Banyan Tree’s position as a leading CSR practitioner in the hospitality industry, but also ratifies Banyan Tree’s long-held values of being a responsible world corporate citizen.
