Laguna Lăng Cô Held “Winter Warmth” Charity Trip To A Lưới District
Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam, 27th November, 2014 – Laguna Lang Co held the charity trip “Winter Warmth” to help people in the mountainous district of A Luoi, especially families in deep poverty, hoping to bring them a warmer winter with the help of local officials and the resort’s associates.
A Lưới is a mountainous district within Thua Thien Hue province with high poverty rate, including 12 poor communes in the border and 6 extremely poor communes out of 21 communes. People here live in difficult mountainous conditions particularly in the cold winter. In the mountainous area of A Lưới, the lowest temperatures is 5-7o C. The lack of warm clothing is the major issue for poor families. Children go out to work in the fields in the hope of warming themselves. Many families suffer from loss of crops and farm animals in the cold weather.
The program received enthusiastic response, with associates at Laguna Lăng Cô donating more than 150 kg of winter clothing and 730 kg of rice to support poverished families in A Luoi. Under the guidance and information provided by the district committee, Laguna Lăng Cô associates brought these clothes and rice to families in Hong Thuy Commune, A Luoi District. The gifts were given to 73 families, each family receiving 10 kg of rice and 1 bag of warm clothing.
