First Laguna Lăng Cô Marathon Weekend Announced In Central Vietnam
Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam, August 2015 – Following the success of the sister Laguna Phuket Marathon, the very first Laguna Lăng Cô Marathon will take place on 24-25 October, 2015 at Laguna Lăng Cô – the first and largest integrated world-class resort in Central Vietnam. The marathon weekend will comprise a full marathon, a half marathon, and a variety of fun runs. The inaugural Laguna Lăng Cô Marathon will be a memorable event experience for all participants with stunning courses of Central Vietnam’s lush countryside and exciting activities for all ages.
On the weekend of 24-25 October 2015, runners and marathon lovers will gather in stunning Lang Co – internationally recognised as one of the most beautiful bays in the world – to take part in our celebration of Vietnam’s fastest growing sport. In total, over 500 Vietnamese and international runners are expected to take part in the Lang Co event in 5 different categories: 42KM (full marathon), 21KM (half marathon), 10KM, 5KM, and 2KM for children.
Laguna Lăng Cô’s combination of word class hotels (Banyan Tree Lăng Cô and Angsana Lăng Cô) together with its stunning location along Vietnam’s breathtaking central coastline make it the perfect venue for running. Saturday, October 24th will be a celebration of the fun of running for friends and families with the 10KM run, the 5KM community run, and the 2KM run for children. Sunday, October 25th will be the competition day for the full marathon 42KM and half marathon 21KM.
The courses will go through the idyllic Hue countryside around Laguna Lăng Cô resort, the 2 hotels Banyan Tree and Angsana Lăng Cô, as well as Laguna Lăng Cô’s world-class golf course, designed by Sir Nick Faldo himself. The weekend will conclude with an exciting awards party on the afternoon of October 25th at the Laguna Lăng Cô resort.
The Laguna Lăng Cô Marathon will build on the incredible success of its renowned sister event, the Laguna Phuket Marathon, which in June celebrated its 10th year anniversary. As well as bringing a burst of excitement to beautiful Lăng Cô, this year’s event will also help Laguna continue its prominent role to work with the local community. In 2015, Laguna Lăng Cô will organize the 5KM community run to support its School Water Project. This is a long-running 3-year project with the aim to supply clean water filtration systems for local schools in Phu Loc district around the resort. Events such as the Laguna Lăng Cô Marathon provide a superb platform to profile and support organisations making a real difference in saving and improving lives in Central Vietnam.
